Background
Tate previously was a reporter, editor and columnist for The (Urbana) Courier and The (Champaign) News-Gazette, from 1972-1985. She handled public relations, speechwriting and media relations in the three-campus Office for University Relations of the University of Illinois (system) from 1985-2007.
Research/Creative Endeavor
Currently she is writing a book about campus planning and architecture, 1867-present, at the University of Illinois.
