Background

Meyer is a former news photo and graphics editor, assistant news editor, systems editor, copy desk chief and reporter for the Milwaukee Journal (1977-'94) and Sunday editor, assistant news editor and reporter for the Bloomington (Ill.) Pantagraph (1975-'77). He is a Pulitzer Prize nominee (1983) and winner of 12 major regional or national awards for reporting, editing, photojournalism and design. He previously taught at Marquette University in Milwaukee.

Research/Creative Endeavor

Meyer was executive producer of the State of the American Newspaper Project online (1998-2000), co-publisher of American Journalism Review online (1996-2001) and creator and publisher of the NewsLink online media resource and census (1994-2004). He is author of "Designing Infographics" (1997) and "Tomorrow's News Today: A Guide to Strategic Planning for Online Publishing" (1995-2000, nine editions). Since 1998, he also has been president and principal owner of Hoch Publishing Co. Inc., publisher of three community newspapers and two special-interest magazines in Kansas.
